Lonicera japonica Halls Prolific

Lonicera japonica Halls Prolific (Lonicera halls prolific)

I know I shouldn't have...but after Surreylad's good advice last week, I couldn't resist it!
Definitely the last plant of the year, though!

I know! I thought so too!!! :)))

Agree with you both, but not about being the last plant :)

I knew you would say that! :)
But, the time's drawing nearer...
...although there's still one market day left before the off!!! :)

Just admit it Karen, the 1st step is admitting you have a problem. You are an ADDICT just like most of us here :) We can't help you until you start helping yourself :):)

I find it helps to make a pact with myself to not buy any plants until a certain time....try to leave at least 8 hours before your next plant purchase.....then, when the time comes, you can set another time, or buy a plant!! ;)))

Heeheehee...Thanks for the advice, girls...at least I'm a member of a reliable 'support group' (as in support the habit! lol!)! :)))))

12 Sep, 2011

Hahahaha....
I made a deal with myself, just buy one plant a week ....it's when I buy more than one that I start feeling guilty.

12 Sep, 2011

It's no good...I'm giving up on the giving up...I'm just not ready yet! lol!!

Lol K, that's a beauty there i like it :-)) if i go to the garden centre my o/h keeps telling me to keep my hands in my pockets !! .. so i get my daughter to get them for me :-))

Lovely Honeysuckle, I try and restrict myself to 1 plant a week, but bulbs, seeds and free plants dont count lol :o)))

Ah, now! This one's Surreylad's fault! Eh, W?! :)

I now know that my addiction is so bad, that there's no point in setting myself limits, anymore...
I am a lost cause!!!

It's a lovely one - very similar to my 'Scentsation'. I hope it does as good for your, I have 3 large ones up the side garden and the scent is amazing!!
I knew you would be at the market today - it is Monday after all :)
This weekend past has been the first weekend since around April I have not been in a GC or Nursery, I'm fair proud o' masel!!

Lol K, :-))

I f you have the room for it..and the money to buy it//why not!!!!

12 Sep, 2011

Good for you, Scottish! But, is that because you were too busy getting your garden ready for your next visit, hmm?? :)
When it's a market purchase I can always kid myself, that I'm not spending much! I've still got a big space on the pergola...
I've had honeysuckles before, and they've always ended up as big clumps on the tops of fences...
...but since Surreylad told me how to prune honeysuckle...(thanks, W!)

It had to be done!

That is a good thing to tell yourself Karen, it's just from the market so it's everyday shopping, not special purchases :)
I haven't bought any more because I still have plenty to go in the ground yet and yes, been busy with the paintbrushes. Almost done - weather hasn't been helpful and I can't plant til I get it all ready.
I know nothing about pruning honeysuckle properly - I just cut bits that don't look right or get out of hand. They are not clumps on top of fences yet!!
I may need to ask Surreylad for some advice too :)
If there is room on the pergola - that is enough justification for buying as far as I would be concerned :)

Well done, Scottish...I knew you'd been busy!!

Surreylad gave me confidence, because he also supports the garden scissors approach to pruning!

Well not quite!! But he cured my fear of honeysuckle control! Didn't you, W? :))

13 Sep, 2011

I need to ask what the garden scissor approach is...probably something so simple.

13 Sep, 2011

Am waiting for SL to reply, Scottish...(but, just chop the tops off them...they flower on new growth!!..shhh!)

13 Sep, 2011

I see, it's easy when you know how eh!!
I chopped one right back the other day as I had to get the trellis off the fence. I did know that they come back but didn't know that it's the new growth they flower from - will have no qualms about chopping away at it now :)

Exactly, Scottish! Snip Snip!! :)))))
