Purple millet & Pollen

My purple millet is full of pollen now, i give it a shake to pollinate it, bit messy as there's clouds of it.... i look like i was wearing sherbet all over my shirt...

Hi there , Surrie , I had one of those millets last year , and tried to save the seed , but it didn't seem to set .
Really unusual isn't it ?

Mine doesn't look like this yet ,I didn't know you had to shake them to pollinate them !

they are a bit like corn i beleave Amy, need pollinating if not in a group but i'm not sure if it has to be pollen from a different plant or not..

Funny -after seeing your pic, saw loads of these today,planted by local council at a roundabout and mixed with various annuals. They looked great - bit like bulrushes.

I had better give mine a good shake when it has pollen and looks like yours then Slad and then stand back to see what happens in due course :o) I bought some Lemon grass today and they had some more of these Millet plants in the centre there ....

I've been growing Lemon grass from seed but they are taking forever to grow when I saw some fully grown plants I couldn't resist them ,I use it for cooking so thats a bonus as well ........
