Wow!, Spritz, we have a different version(Pennisetum setaceum) that grows wild here. I let it grow in my garden but I do try to cut off the blooms before the seeds loosen and blow around. I still get to enjoy them for a couple of months. I am going to post a picture of mine so you can see it. I think it adds so much to the landscape. I do have to dig up 20 or 30 of them each year because they end up places I don't want them. It is considered a prolific weed here.
In the US the "rubrum" species is an annual and is sterile.

Skippy, I think that it shoud have 'setaceum' after the Pennisetum - sorry I left it out. I wish it was hardy here.
