Plumeria rubra 'Rainbow' - Rainbow Plumeria

Plumeria rubra 'Rainbow' - Rainbow Plumeria (Plumeria rubra 'Rainbow' - Rainbow Plumeria)

My former neighbor yanked this almost 6ft/2m tall and wide Plumeria from his front yard and gave it to me a week ago. It has a lot of bud, no blooms yet. Photo taken July 5, 2012.

Alexandramou:

My previous neighbor has many dozens of plumeria trees in the ground. When he cuts his big trees back he just sticks the cuttings in the ground and they grow.

I'm going to have to bring mine in for winter, out for summer and he just sticks little tree size cuttings in the ground and presto.

Yes, we're lucky! hehehe! :>)

Presto it is. Plumerias really like to be in the ground over being in pots. You should try one in a protected spot in the ground.

YES.....I think I will plant one in the garden. You never know unless you try. I have a protected area, it's just the rain I'm concerned about.

By the way....my Bird of Paradise started looking good in the garden.....yesterday the leaves went all brown???

Yes, try a plumeria in the garden...the root system must be kept as dry as possible in the winter, though.

Is your bird-of-paradise getting enough water? I know when it's completely established they need very little water.
