Purple Roscoea

siris

By Siris

Purple Roscoea (Roscoea humeana)

This has increased to 3 over the 2 years since I bought it.
Roscoea seem to do well for me, but are very slow to break into leaf each year.

A Goy member sent me a baby Roscoea two years ago which is just coming into leaf now. It's similar to Iris in the photo. Are they related Siris?

Lucky you, no they are not related to Iris, but a member of the Ginger family.

I sent Heuchera seed and got this back, Roscoea purpurea, with no idea what it was. It has stayed in the greenhouse since. Just when you think it's dead, a leaf or two bursts through.

They are late to come into leaf, I have a pink which is really slow.
