A tall late-flowering Salvia which I hope will flourish in my garden in a sheltered area.

I don't think so, Andrea - I dead-head mine frequently and have never seen this happen - however, as you know, this Salvia is new to me, so it may do that. I'll try when it gets to that stage.

it's still alive, Tasteyg, but the outer leaves have gone mushy. I think it will be OK, though! :-)

I visited Northcourt Gardens open garden on 29th Sept and I think I came across some salvias there. I have been trying to find this plant on the tinterweb, but can't seem to.
Please can you tell me if the seedheads on a salvia curl up when you touch them and then release the seeds? I collected a few of these curl up seedheads and I have the seeds, but i don't know what the plant is, could it be salvia??
