This Salvia is a true purple. It certainly needs a south or west facing position - I'm hoping it survives the winter.

Can you take cuttings/collect seeds?

I've been reading about it in a book on Salvias that I have... it should be hardy, and the author says it seeds itself AND can be propagated from cuttings as well! So I shall have a try.
