Schefflera arboricola plant

Schefflera arboricola can get very large and have many of those orange berries. They're a beautiful shrub or small tree which have a horribly aggressive root-system.

Thank you for the information about the roots. I was not aware of that.

Oh yeah, Schefflera have horrible surface roots! Schefflera aboricola, digitata and especially actinophylla become large trees here in San Diego. All the Schefflera actinophylla trees are blooming right now.

I would love to see that!

We have one on the patio in the pot here and the berries are turning red. I wonder how long it can stay in the pot if it has such agressive roots. So far I have not seen any Scheffleras planted in public places here but the ones hanging over a 12' walls look impressive already.

I would like to see an old Schefflera tree too, Karen.

I have several large Schefflera trees posted on GoY from here in San Diego, CA. Schefflera actinophylla is an extremely common large tree here (there's many in my neighborhood). S. actinophylla typically grows to more than 50ft (16m) tall.

They grow large in the bay area. Never flower. Whatever the minimum need for heat is for that..we are just too mild.

I think I have seen them flower in the SF Bay Area before. They can bloom in summer or winter.

Right now the tall trees around my neighborhood are all in full bloom.
