I had this lovely Skimmia, but it got 'mugged' by the Jap. Anemones, and has only one little lonely flower on it - so I have bought a new one, and have removed more 'thugs' to help the Skimmias!

Cunning plan, Amy - a red watering can with 'W.K.' painted on the side of it! I am horrible - but so are they when they smother my beautiful plants! I am fighting back!!!! :-)))))

Oh no I don't, Sbg! I just stake them as much as I can - and chop them down ruthlessly as soon as they've finished flowering, so the other poor plants get to see the light of day! :-(((

your soil is well tended though and they just love that :o))

Not where 'THEY' are, Sbg. When I dig any out, it's obvious that the soil hasn't been dug over at all. I hit soooo many huge stones! The only thing I've done is to mulch the whole area with compost in the winter/spring.

hehe spritz. they love humus.

Well, NOW I'm hoping that the new plants do as well! The two new Lysimachia ephemerum have got new shoots already! YESSSS!!! Little seed labels mark the places where the others are planted, as they've disappeared for the winter.

thats excellent. i often forget to put markers in and then dig plants up by mistake.

Obviously I'm going to like this!

I should hope so, Robert! Do you think it's just a name - or would there be a definite connection - breeding, maybe?
