Solandra maxima - Copa de oro, Cup of Gold Vine

Solandra maxima - Copa de oro, Cup of Gold Vine (Solandra maxima - Copa de oro, Cup of Gold Vine)

This vine is in full bloom, it's a winter bloomer. The scent was so strong...it smells like vanilla, coconut.

It's definitely famous for the fragrance of the flowers. It's very, very widely grown here in California. The only downside is that is grow extremely fast...sometimes you can literally see it grow. It's one of the fastest-growing vines in the world! It can take over a garden within one year or less.

Might take ten years in our climate?!

Stickitoffee:

I'm pretty sure it would not grow outside in your climate. It does grow much, much slower in a pot.

Alexandramou:

Why don't you have one growing in your garden?

I haven't seen it for sale!!! Would it grow well from seeds???

I don't know, I've never seen any seed pods on the vines.

It grows very easily from cuttings. I used to have two (which were from cuttings) when I lived in the San Francisco Bay Area.
