It was taller than that and wider but i pruned “bad bits off.i didn’t really do anything much.igave it a little seaweed feed earlier on.i thought having a lot of rain may have helped it along.anyway I’m so happy .my oh was all for digging it out earlier in the year !!

Wow compared to your previous photo's your tree looks amazing Gerardine, so pleased for you, I get quite upset when I ose a tree or a shrub, my hubby would be the same as yours but he's not a gardener and doesn't understand, lol.
I'm in a bit of a quandary at the moment, I have three Acers here in large pots, the largest one got thrown over on Saturday during the gale and now the pot is cracked, doubt it will last the winter, luckily my tree is unharmed, however because it was lying on its side I noticed the roots are coming through the drainage holes, so that means an even bigger pot, I was considering whether to plant mine in the ground but the last time I tried that my tree died within two years...

Why do you think it died Sue? Too windy? Not enough water?

It’s just luck sometimes.in my last garden I had a maple in a pot and planted it in the garden.it was still going strong when i left.id give it a go.

Glad your Maple has recovered its such a lovely shape.
Lincs ... same happened with my potted acer last year so put it in the ground in the new gravel garden and its looking good so far.
