Moth?

Hi ,saw this " moth" today, I have never seen anything like it before, has anyone else?

its lovely, i havent seen one before either but it is a moth. apparantly you can tell which is a moth and which is a butterfly by the way they close their wings.

Its a lovely photo but if I was near it and it moved I`d be petrified and go off in a flat spin, daft I know, I love butterflies though and can even touch them......

Going to be a good year for moths I think (judging by the number of caterpillars that I deported to next doors garden ;)

Funnily enough Spritz posted one on another forum a couple of days ago ..... but can't remember its name !
I've never seen one like it, i'm not a fan of moths but can admire its colouring.
Could it be a Scarlet Tiger ?
