It all started when...

A day in our life can sometimes be very interesting. Like when the Jack Russell’s set up a ruckus at 6 a.m., that’s always a good kick-start for the morning. I could see from the windows that they were barking toward the carport so, as usual, I had to investigate. As I walked toward the car, it occurred to me that they could be barking at something dangerous, so I carefully positioned myself with a fence in between me and the mysterious object that was causing the dogs to annoy my neighbors! Behold, the scary critter…

Armadillo! Definitely a highlight.

Switching gears later, I was in for a few surprises. As I strolled through the yard and my new cactus corner, the plants came alive. Just look what I found.

I know, I know, you’ve seen this pincushion before, but it just keeps blooming in the same spot, and now it’s double blooming~~ I think it’s magical. Let’s look closer at the cactus corner, shall we?

Looks like that monkeytail cactus has really been monkeying around. But, the best is yet to come…

Brazilian prickly pear is blooming again.

Then, as things began to mellow out, I discovered two unobtrusive but beautiful little flowers,

The last of the iris is blooming in an old wash tub, and the sweet nigella is just beginning to show it’s shy little face. And me, I can’t decide if I live in a zoo (we also see raccoons, possums, squirrels, etc.) or a plant “hatchery.” Either way, it’s wondrous and I love my yard!

Sixpence, I don't know about the "rats tail" but it surely could be. But, the armadillo, seen a few of those in my time, first photo ever - thanks! I think my neighbors believe I have a pajama game going on - out at 6 a.m. with my camera.

It sounds like a zoo lol but I think it must be wonderful to have all those things come into your yard. I hope they don't create too much damage ... I love the cacti. Your cactus corner is very interesting.
