Iris bed at Myddelton House , Enfield

The plantsman and plant collector A E Bowles developed a large garden at Myddelton House that was neglected for many years after his death but has now received lottery funding and is being slowly but surely restored to its former glory.
It now includes a show bed of medal winning irises that were awarded the Dykes Iris Society medal across the years in the USA and the UK. I would have taken more but a heavy rainstorm brought me to a halt.
Each iris is followed by its label.

Thanks for this blog. It's many years since I went to Myddleton House, and it has prompted me to go there again.

Lovely. I visited Capel Manor many times and did not know this place existed very near. May be I go there too, when I visit Capel manor again.

Myddelton House now has a small museum about A E Bowles, a cafe and a small plant sales section as well as the gardens . And it's free.
