They were always in one of my potting sheds in the old garden but I haven't seen them up here. It was a wooden shed - maybe they liked it because it was warm :o)

We too have these lovely baby spider nurseries in our garden - last year we had one on the miniature bamboo and now we have two nurseries - one on a blue hosta and the other - much to my partner's annoyance - in the lettuce........ having read up on them - they are orb spiders and the mother willhave laid the egg sac last autumn - and then - so sad - died - and then they hatch in May ..........
we only have a small garden but a lot of ivy at the bottom - could be that that is where they will end up

I've had these too, in my greenhouse on my runner bean plants. Milky started it all off with some on her water butt. Lovely to see.
28 May, 2009
I always get a lot in the Ivy and they also like the Ceanotus Jacque and yes I steer clear.......
