I have to say that as a general rule looking after my two year old grandaughter is fairly stress free, however today was not quite so peaceful. After lunch I decided to drive her home and wait for mum to get home from work. In the lounge they have a log burner, and in the log burner I saw what I thought was a mouse, but on closer examination turned out to be a bird. Right Ellie in her bedroom, dog in the garden and two cats in the utility, time to tackle the bird. I opened the log burner and tried to catch the bird, needless to say it escaped into the room. At this point I realised the cats had opened the sliding door to the utility, one of them caught the bird. Stuff out the other cat and lock door then proceed to try and catch cat with bird. I swore at cat, cat swore at me, we went under table behind chairs, round and round. Eventually scruffed cat and retrieved bird, ok except a few feathers, released bird in garden. Hoovered up soot ash and feathers and allowed animals and grandaughter back in lounge. When daughter returned home Ellie said “bambar (thats me) has been playing with cats”. Home for a sit down

Ha ha ha. Found that very amusing sorry... Lol!
One of my cats appeared with a dead mouse yesterday. It was a bit of a game trying to get it from him but got there in the end just like you but for some reason he wouldn't settle. A wee while later a half mangled vole appeared from under the chair!! Couldn't believe it was still alive. Sad to say I had to send it on its way to heaven and that made me sad.

lol that was so funny :D
Sorry I don't mean to be disrespectful and make fun of you, but I could picture it happening, and it did make me laugh. You wrote it in a very humorous way :o)
I'm pleased to hear the bird escaped unharmed.

Happened to me once with a starling but didn't have the added obstacles of cats and dogs and baby..........

Your vivid storytelling is brilliant......I guess your Ellie loves bambar to read her stories. :0))

Never a dull moment when children and pets are involved, add a little bird or mouse in the house and everything becomes hectic, I`m sorry I`m laughing as well, I can picture the scene, I`ve played chase the cat many a time and also know how the grandchildren can snitch on us and reduce our efforts to an everyday occurence, good when you thiink about it as it proves you are an entertaining Bambar, lol..

What a good thing your playing with the cat ended with rescuing the bird! We once had a cat that took a pigeon apart in the dining room - ever tried hoovering up feathers? They bounce up in front of the machine and float away...

That poor bird! However did it get into the woodburner? Luckily, our cats tend not to bring prey into the house - if it isn't already eaten by the time we discover the remains, there is a "trophy" area in front of the house, where bits of shrews and moles and mice are deposited. We've had to finish off a few victims, too, Scottish: I never get used to it.
Never a dull moment, eh, Jenfen? Well, what else would you do with your day?

I thought for a minute you were going to say it turned out to be the pet budgie you'd let go! thank goodness it wasn't ."Oooh what a palaver"...as Julie Walters once said in a Typhoo tea advert!!!,!

I know how hard they are to catch once they are in the room Genfen , a Swallow misjudged it's nest above our back door straight into the kitchen our cat grabbed it instantly .....I was chasing the cat grabbing and shaking it until it let the bird go it happened twice we've also had a pigeon down our chimney we couldn't understand where the strange noises were coming from for 3 days ,the chimney was boarded up for the summer when we finally opened the chimney the Pigeon flew into the room scattering soot everywhere we had to open the window to chase it out it was black it was amazing it survived at all :o(
