Its happened :‘(
My Oriental Poppies have started flowering and I’m not there to see them!!! I’ve spent the last year growing the darn things, all excited like and now I’m missing the show :P I’m hoping that a few will drag their feet, so I can catch the tail end…. does anyone know how long they usually flower for? I’ve read that its quite a short period (which is why I’m upset). I don’t get home for another fortnight, so just crossing my fingers there’ll be some left :P

A beautiful poppy extremely well captured. Perhaps if your luckly and dont get any strong winds you might just catch them.

Great picture! I'm pretty sure i get 2 weeks worth out of mine so maybe you can still catch some. I remember waiting or my first one to open, I was pretty much stading over them watching! No picture does them justice, as good as it is. hope you get lucky :-)

Thankyou, and I realy hope so! Theres something so magic about catching the first of your flowers opening... its very sad to have to miss it :( But you have reassured me a bit Columbine :) Hopefully if the others open just a few days later they can cling on :P (and I will keep my fingers crossed for no strong winds Stroller!).
My mother is very lovely :) and the colour is quite vivid! Its nice, becuase most of what I've sown/planted tends to be more on the pink/white/purple/blue side of things, so a bit of zing should be fun :)

Mine are also flowring, and some have lost their petals, while others are opening up. They certainly do not last long, espcially as the petals are extremely delicate. Just touch lightly or a light breeze and mine seem to fall off.

:( but at least if they don't open up all at once I should stand more of a chance of seeing some, and i think its reasonably sheltered in the front garden... will have to cross fingers and see :P I suppose the delicateness of them is part of the appeal, especially how something can be so vibrant and yet so fragile.

Keeping fingers and toes crossed that you get to see them Jennyfer, it will be worth waiting for if they hold on I am sure. I love all poppies.
