local garden center

Just been to my local garden center and unfortunately, they are having a real though time, not only because every one is been careful with their money but they have major road works just out side there gates. Last weekend they only took £65.00. So if any one lives in and around Chester try and support Root & Shoots, they have 20% off all plants to try and get some customers in. They can’t claim compensation until the road works are finished which will be near Christmas time and I think this will be to late for them and that will be a shame, as it’s a family run business and are always very helpful.

Just what I was going to ask, sale by internet, it's a shame when that happens...I think I'd set up a stall up the road a bit...prob get a parking ticket, but worth a try...:o)))

It is terrible when it happens. My son had a business in Brick Lane in London and they dug up the road on his side to lay pipes. He got a reduction in his council tax, but with the added downturn in the economy the business never really recovered. Garden centres have to make their money in the summer.

I think it's bad news Linda, Businesses should be compensated...for their losses...as you said business is difficult to recover especially in the current economic climate

Hi Crssue, thanks for trying it's defiantly Chester but I think they probably don't supply on line as it's a small garden center, which literally deal in plants, pots and compost and that it.

That's a real pity! Seems unjust as well....I thought the government was keen to support small businesses...that's just not fair...:( Sorry Jenny, it's a bit far for me...;)
