It's a special sort of day today........

It started by waking to the sight of a very fat, happy Buddha sitting on my bedside table. I rubbed my eyes to make sure that I wasn’t dreaming, then saw the card by his side and remembered that it’s my birthday!

The card and Buddha were from my husband, and the Buddha is now sitting on my kitchen table looking like he’s waiting for his dinner!

Copious amounts of coffee are the first order of the day in this household, I hadn’t even got halfway down my first cup and I’m told that there’s going to be a ‘Meteor Shower’ tonight, visible to the naked eye. (It’s true…I googled it!)

So I’m thinking that’s cool then, me and my Buddha, a glass of something chilled, gazing at the galactic performance (specially arranged at great expence just for my brithday by my dear husband he says).

Coffee still not finished and I’m hearing a very excited little voice hollaring at the gate…
“Nanny, NANNY…. NANNY!!!! …QUICKLY NANNY!”
I dashed off to see what was going on, only to find one rather small grandson struggling with a very big box with a bow on top.
Looking behind the box i saw that a slightly larger grandson, eldest daughter and new hubby were also laid in wait, all giggling like kids!

We made our procession down the garden path to various versions of “Happy Birthday to you”,(squashed tomatoes in stew) etc and loving reminders to “be careful with that box darlings” or to be more accurate, “Drop that box and I’ll string you up”.

Ok, reality check.
I always thought that surprise gifts were actually meant to be opened by the ‘Birthday Girl’ and that you are not supposed to know what’s inside.
NOT IN THIS HOUSE APPARENTLY…..

Both grandsons dived into unwrapping (aka tearing apart with bare teeth) MY present whilst telling me that we can have a BBQ now and that it came from Tesco’s. “Guess what it is” they said!
I tried to stop laughing long enough to finish my now cold coffee.
Actually, it’s a really nice clay Chimenea, been looking at them for ages. Thanks kids…

So do I care that there’s going to be a Meteoric Shower tonight and it’s so overcast that there’s very little chance of seeing it? Not in the least, I have been given such a special gift today that it could snow for all I care.
Have you guessed which one?
The Chimenea? No.
The Buddha? No.

My greatest gift today was the love from my family.
I feel so blessed.
Now that’s worth celebrating!

Photo’s will follow but I’m just going to get my ‘glad rags’ on and we’re off out for an “All you can Eat” Chinese buffet. Can’t get much better can it!

I’m singing now, “…I’ve got the funniest feeling, everythings gowing my way”.
