African Gardening

Some of you may know that I am off to Africa in a few weeks and hope to be able to have a small garden there.
It’s got me to wondering what I might grow there…
…some CROC-osmia, perhaps ?…
…or, maybe, some DANDY LIONS ?…
…definitely a few HIPPO-phae…
…ELEPHANTS EARS ?…
…maybe a MONKEY PUZZLE TREE ?…
…how about PARROT’S BEAK ?…
…or, possibly, even an EVERLASTING PEE ?…
(that one was a bit cheeky, but I couldn’t resist it!)
Don’t worry, folks, they’re all my own photos…Got a few left…can anyone come up with anything to do with mongoose, zebras or giraffes ? lol!!!

Well there's zebra grass (a striped miscanthus). And what about tiger lilies? And fritillaria rhino-petalum? Apparently there's a dahlia 'Pink Giraffe' as well (just googled it). Still working on mongoose ....

Great stuff, Andrewr!!!
Can't do fritillaria rhino-petalum, at the moment...no photos...they're all in a secret location until their numbers increase...
...pink giraffe is now a must! (but may have to do a photoshop job, lol!)
Unfortunately, no tigers in Africa...but...
...keep working on the mongoose...there must be an answer..lol!
Thank you :))))

Oooh, really, Sewingkilla? Where were you? I'm going to Nigeria...I already am in love with Africa...but never been to those parts which are to become 'home'...

Dear Karen
Sounds like a Zebra Haworthia Fasciata might be appropriate!
Thanks for answering my question about what to plant around mills. We have just bought a holiday house in the Dordogne department, next to Charente. Our nearest town is Mareuil.
As luck would have it I also work in Africa, in Nairobi. Let me know if you need any gardening or general advice if you're anywhere close.
