One Duckling less :-(

I was busy in the garden today, and looked in the pond and one of my pebbles was in the bottom, so I grabbed it (with an expandable litter picker) and then I realised it wasn’t a pebble but a duck egg.
I am wearing clear gloves and the egg is muddy.
As many of you know Daisy Duck – a wild mallard has made her nest under my deck – the ducklings are due any day (I think) but haven’t seen Daisy for a day or two. I’ll keep you all updated.
an expensive duck house, perhaps I should have been an MP lol.

Och I'm sorry about the egg, I didn't realise they were quite that big! Hope Daisy comes back to the rest of her clutch, sometimes you just have to wait it out and see.
By the way, your pond and garden are gorgeous! Very jealous!

The fact is she only leaves the nest for 20 mins a day, so we can easily miss her and as we cannot see the nest we just know she is under the deck and so we are assuming she is nesting - the egg is another bit of duck laying/nesting evidence.

That nest is well protected under your deck, hope she does come back, suspense is killing me, hope you do get to see some ducklings emerging that will be an amazing sight.......
