Home from the seas !

Wow that was quite a trip! There are so many wonderful places to see around the British Isles that a trip abroad is almost superfluous!
Love family history and to be able to see your Gt-Uncle's grave was a bonus.

never ought of doing a uk based tour. what were the seas like? I suspect a bit 'lumpy' at times.

Just my thoughts too, I would never have thought of doing that. Are you a good sailor? The Irish sea can be a bit of a horror at this time of year so sounds as though you were fortunate. Glad you managed to get to Mull - did you manage to see Fingal's Cave? Its between Mull and Iona.
I'm glad you were able to visit the war grave too.

Well I am not the best of sailor but the seas were quite calm sometimes at night they seemed a bit choppy the two days we were at sea the weather was lovely we were sitting in the sun on the top deck ! Yes really loved mull and the Shetlands St Mary’s was also lovely there was nowhere that I was not impressed with the city hall in Belfast the cathedral in Cobh Kirkwall to name a few ..

Kidsgran You seem to have caught the cruise bug lol. This is a lovely blog. How wonderful that you were able to see where your grand uncle was buried. It is sad to see so many graves but the War Graves Commission certainly do look after their cemeteries beautifully. We spent several month long holidays in Orkney and had a wonderful time there. For such a small island it has lots to do and see with wonderful beaches and very friendly people and brilliant food. Will you be tempted to take a longer look at any of the places you visited. Sbg the Pentland Firth is a very choppy route. We used to take a day cabin for the relatively short crossing just in case any of us needed to lie down. The modern ferries are probably much more stable and I would think a cruise ship would be pretty good.
