Hi Kimola...

You have made very good use of space, so I am adding your blog to GoYpedia Small Garden Ideas... and Seats ... and Walls.....

Some GoY members have only tiny planting areas, so they they grow most of their plants in containers...

... but others have several acres !!!

I find it very interesting to see how GoY members use their garden space, whatever the size... :o)

Small gardens are much less work Kimola, big gardens need quite a lot of work and take a lot of time up to maintain them, your little garden looks lovely. Well done on what you have achieved in your little space, just enjoy it.

I have a small back yard and like you manage with pots and baskets. I can always find room if I have to.

Do you mean 20 feet long, Sticki ?

.... or have you been digging a loooong way down.. ? Lol.

i would desperately like to have an escape tunnel terra but i mean 30' wide and 20' from house to back fence; seems funny to call it long ~ cos its more short than long!!!

Mine is 90ft long X 47ft wide, its sorted into three parts which are then taken up with various different beds so never seems too big, saying that its really what you do with your space that counts not really the size, yours looks very attractive Kim, well done...

OH and I were trying to work out ours we think it is about 45-50 foot long and about 35 wide but then we have an extra bit behind the garage. Funny you should ask cos I remember TT doing a blog re what constitutes a big garden or a small garden last year. I think you have made your garden look really nice and utilised the space really well. Welcome to GOY:)

Your garden looks lovely Kimola, big gardens do take lots of work, I have 3rd of an acre which had to be terraced when we built our house as the gardens on quite a steep slope, spent a year waiting for the grass seed to get going and spent the last 9 digging it up,lol, just wish I could stop myself digging more beds and borders :-))

We all have different sized gardens, ours is small compared to some of the gardens on here, but it is what you do with it , look at Mossy's tiny but amazing, you have done very well with yours, so be proud.

It's beautiful and peaceful! What more can one ask for? A funny thing happens though, the more time you spend in in your garden and on it, the bigger it seems to become!

Hello kimola, Just enjoy looking and learning. If you look at most pictures on here they focus on one plant that is either giving them joy or concern. I like to see the larger gardens and I am stealing little bits to use in my Yard next year.

i like what eclectic says ~ 'the more time you spend in the garden and on it, the bigger it seems to become!' ~ so true!

We are living on a suburban block for the first time and I'm not actually sure of the dimensions - I just know it's never enough! But despite that we've planted a wonderful forest =)) Being sub tropical things grow quite quickly and we have put in large and small ponds to encourage the eco system to develop - and develop it has!! - it's spring here and the birds are flourishing - we have a good insect population to support them too and we just let it all happen rather than try to control it - we planted mostly local natives and lots of self seeded plants have come in as well - even though the garden is relatively small we have been able to plant specific types of plants in different areas which has created a series of mini environments which each has it's own store of insects and birds that prefer it - most interesting! - it is chaos theory at its best and definitely not everyones ideal garden but we love it =))
