Cats and dogs

It’s midnight and it’s chucking it down. There was thunder and lightening and a torrential downpour at around 10, so I thought I had better do something to protect the various vegetable seedlings that made their cute appearance late last week (I just sowed some seed about two weeks ago to see what would happen). A few strategically placed old manure bags will hopefully protect and not crush (and not get blown away – the rocks holding them down aren’t particularly large).
The rest of the garden could use a drink, so bring it on, Thor!
Time for bed.
(If you’re wondering what the plastic grid in the photo is for, it’s to stop cats doing their business amongst the edibles… and it seems to work. I’ll put piccies of the storm’s aftermath up tomorrow).

Hi Kloba, welcome x This is a great site, lots of friendly people.
The wind woke me up around midnight, It'd blown a window wide open and the bathroom door started banging, then the lightening started, no thunder or rain. It'll do the rain bit today as it's my day off : ( It's started as i type.
Ah well, will just have to do the houswork .....

thanks for all your kind comments. Have to say this is probably the friendliest place I have ever been on the Internet :-) Some of the photos uploaded are really inspiring... sorry to lower the tone with empty mulch bags weighed down with stones!!! The storm was a good one. Lots of thunder and lightening and big rain. Sounds like Daff was on the periphery of a similar beast. More to come today and tomorrow apparently.

Empty mulch bags don't lower the tone for me Kloba....I will use whatever is handy in my garden....besides its a good way to re-use and re-cycle. :o)

I think you are probably quite near me Kloba (Corringham, Essex). We certainly had the torrential rain you mention. The last two nights around midnight and later. I couldn't work today due to the rain ( I do garden maintenace) and looks like more of the same (or worse) tomorrow.
Nice blog.

Hello Kloba....Welcome to GOY. I hope your seedlings don't get washed or blown away. That's a good idea putting the plastic grid down to stop the cats. Nice to know it works....I'll have to keep it in mind. Thanks!! :o)
