Raised beds

I have been clearing the ground in the back section of my garden, for some raised beds – there was a lot of rubbish on the ground from the last occupants – metal poles, plastic bags, tons of weeds, bricks and chunks of concrete!
Finally at the stage where I can level it off and start building the raised beds. I have been given a lot of bricks for free from some lovely Freecycle people, I also managed to get 15 good bags of top soil from another fabulous Freecycle person.
I was inspired by one of the gardens I saw at the Chelsea flower show which had pockets in the walls for insects and bees to live in, so I will be adding those to my raised beds (they’re going to be quite high)
All I need to do now is mix a little cement, get a load of compost/manure/soil improver, cut and drill my bamboo bee homes, and put them all together!

Thank you!
Yes, it's a brilliant idea, if the lovely rain would stop for just a day I could finish it off. :o)

Thank you! I managed to get the walls built today. I put some drilled wood in for the bees and left some holes for more bee homes. I'm spending tonight cutting up some bamboo to fill up the holes. Will post a blog with piccies tomorrow! :o)
