New House New Garden

We moved to a new house this week which means I get my grubby mits on a new garden!

It’s amazing! 100ft with a lawn and shrubbery, then a little pond with pathways to the back end which is very much like an allotment.

I am 4 and a half months pregnant so will not be able to do much for a while but can do bits and pieces.

It is chocablock with wildlife including tons of birds, so far we’ve had a stunning Jay, robins, blue tits, song thrush, wren, blackbird and sparrows. I’m loathe to let my cats out as one of them has a penchant for eating birds!

More photos to follow.

Best wishes for the new baby and good luck with your new project. What a lovely big garden he/she will have to play in growing up!

Give the cats plenty to eat. If their tummies are full they will leave the birds alone.

It's always a good idea to rush into making changes in a garden. Give it a year to see what comes up (there may be bulbs everywhere for example). And you will also discover little micro-climates which may influence what you later plant - sheltered corners, windy spots and so on

Congratulations on the forth coming baby, and as Andrew meant to say its not always a good idea to rush into making changes so your pregnancy gives you a good excuse to sit back and see what happens.

It appears its been looked after so your plans can safely go on hold until the baby arrives, which will give you lots of time tho think what you want to do. Exciting times!

Lovely garden, you must be so excited with a new house, garden and a baby to come. Dont over do it over Christmas so close to the move its easy to forget to rest at times.

Hi all,

Thank you for your comments, advice and wishes of luck.

The photo only shows the first half of the garden, behind those shrubs in the middle is the allotment type area. I am going to observe it for a year to see what comes up, apparently there are tons of roses in the summer.

I have 3 roses to put in and 100 tulip bulbs so that'll be my only addition for a while.

There's even tomatos already growing in the greenhouse!

Merry Christmas all xxx
