Nature pond revamp

Well not so much a revamp, just a bit of a tidy up to bring the whole design together. It became possible after removing some decking edging that was running along my old border, as we couldn’t remove it when the pond was first made. It had always bugged me that the rocks couldn’t continue entirely round the pond!
Here’s the area I wanted to change…

Sean removed the wood separating the slate and cotswold stones first, then I scrapped off the cotswold stones and laid some new weed membrane. I planted up a little Salix bush and another curly rush to complete the design. Rocks were eagerly placed around the pond – it looks so much better and complete! Plum slate added and ta da, my pond is to my satisfaction. It looks much better all joined together now the wood and white stones have gone.

We found some gorgeous big rocks 2 for £7, I think they fit in perfectly.

Just a shame that to the back of the pond I have next door’s weeds to battle :(

That's lovely now - not that it wasn't before, but I can see how it would have bugged you not quite finishing the circle. It's just that sort of thing that jumps out at you! We have a fencing panel which hides the front of the oil tank and it's not quite straight - how many times do I look at that and get annoyed??
You never know, perhaps now that the neighbours have seen how much work you have put in they might keep their own weeds under control - live in hope!
p.s. The new rocks look great and they wildlife are sure to appreciate the refuge and drinking area.
