I shiver just looking at them. This was the coldest Thanksgiving on record.

What!!! Ice?? Never! We've had nothing but rain here all week and dark skies. I'm amazed to see your pond all frozen.

I am really envious! Think we have lost all our out door pond fish to a dratted heron. We do have around 30 baby tropical fish but they are a "bit" smaller than yours!
Is your pond heart- shaped? :O)

Do not be too envious Eirlys. One winter a few years back I lost every single fish in three of my ponds- over 60- to mink. Overnight we had a sudden drop in air temperature so I decided it was finally time to shut the water pumps off. The unfrozen area in this particular pond was kept that way by a waterfall which I had just shut off to keep the tubing from cracking from excessive pressure. After I shut the pump off I noticed that the area free of ice had a heart shape so I decided to take a photo of this rare event. For the rest of the winter air exchange will take place in the ponds from air pumps which will keep a part of the pond surface from freezing.
