Winter has given us a prolonged blast from the past with all the snow and ice thrown at us, having said that I can’t believe spring is just around the corner..where does the time go.. Had lots of birds and squirrels visiting our garden so off we went to buy fat balls and peanuts !! We have had quite a few green finch and 2 type of tits one I’m sure is the minor tit not sure of the other perhaps the great tit . Only seen 1red robin lots of black birds eating my photonia pallet berries so that’s now bare . Have had some sparrows wchich is a rarity these days ! We’ve had the usual magpies and the huge ring neck pidgeons too , I know lotsvof people discourage squirrals but I love to watch them play around the trees . Can’t believe how playful squirrals can be running from one tree to another bouncing off one trunk to another , my youngest cat honey likes to chase them off and visa versa !

hi lori, there are several species of tit that visit gardens, get your hands on a guide and get identifying and before long you will be as good with the birds as you are with the plants. did you do the rspb garden watch survey? that is fantastic too.

Hello Lori ~
Nice to hear from you.
I have a new puppy called "Truffle" :o)

GoY has quite a lot of photos of bluetits, great tits, etc.
Last week for the first time I saw a long-tailed tit in my garden. Photos of those on Deida's pages. I hope this helps.

Hi, i get quite a few birds in my garden, think some of the starlings are going back home now, not as many in my garden now, so the one's that come may be the british ones, have to admit its alot quiter with out them, no more falling out, all the rest of the birds can eat in peace, i get about 6-7 sparrows in my garden at a time, but although you dont live far from me we have had no snow at all.

Yes, I love to see the squirrels Lori. They come into my garden and help themselves to the nuts I leave out for the birdsThey are so entertaining, aren't they? But 3 years ago I felt quite bad about the fact that they were coming because they got into the roof space of my next door but one neighbour and caused an awful lot of damage. I found out some weeks later from another neighbour that this chap had got a gun and shop them in his garden over the space of a few days. I felt bad and wished they'd never visited our gardens and then would have been spared.

Hi paulthegardener , yes they are very entertaining I could watch them all day long . What a shame I can't believe how cruel some people are, killing the squirrel involved won't stop other ones from damaging the property. They ned to prevent them from getting in the house first of all.
