Santa Claus and face painting

I am absolutely exhausted, but nicely. Our eldest grandson has come to visit us this weekend with his lovely wife and two children. They have rented a very nice cottage as they are up for 3 days and we only have 2 bedrooms.
Yesterday we had story books and Nativity Crib making, a show through the serving hatch and a few songs thrown in. The odd wet burp from Toby, (1) and the odd smash and grab, but no real damage. I made a big chicken casserole which went down quite well. Today we we took them out to lunch, then went to see Father Christmas at the village hall, but it was cancelled, so we luckily found him somewhere else and he had his own beard! Harriet 6, was a bit shy at first, but confided all her wishes to him, but Toby was lost for words. Then we had face painting (well Harriet did) and then we had a juggling lesson and a bit of magic. Now I’m totally exhausted, but feel exhilerated all at the same time.
Its quite special being a great grand parent, you get to be excused if you’re exhausted, as Toby did and there’s 74 years between us.
Sorry garden.

Thanks Crazydi, you're right. If I'd known you could have come with us. Maybe grand kids before long, time goes so fast. Faster and faster the older you get.

Wow!! That's exciting news Pip :)) If you can't cope with all the baby sitting...give me a shout...LOL

P.S....
"Dear Father Christmas,
Please could you bring me a grand child? If not, a new barbie doll or action man, a wendy house, and a Tiny Tears will have to do...
I have been a very good girl (I think...;) and will leave you a mince pie, a glass of sherry, and a carrot for Rudolph, in return!
Many thanks,
Granny-in-Waiting-Di xx"

Mad, You sound like a wonderful great-grandmother and they are very lucky to have you. Mine stopped doing Santa a few years back but I will be back there now with my little Nicky. My mum always used to do it for the girls so I shall carry on the tradition.

Pipsqueak, assuming the little one has arrived, how is everything? Are we going to see some photos? Lovely being a member of the granny club isn't it?
