Waste not want not

Hubby wanted to sow pepper seeds earlier this year and had a few left over from the year before last, so he took a chance and sowed them.
Three out of six germinated, so as I happened to be preparing some veg, including peppers he took some of my discarded seeds and used them. All of those germinated and have grown successfully so I wanted you to see an example.
Something has started attacking them, boring holes, so we are not going to wait for them to turn red and will use them green. They taste nice anyway..
It seems like a bonus to buy peppers to eat and then to use the seeds for more.

Well that was instant success wasn't it. We worry about how to grow things and along you come with your 'we can try' and Bingo it works. I often wonder if we need to be more relaxed about what we do in the garden and this just proves it is a good idea.

What a great looking pepper :) I'd never thought of planting up the seeds from bought peppers. I don't have a greenhouse nor a veg. plot unfortunately but wonder if they could be grown in pots outside?

They're lovely looking peppers. Mine all rotted before I picked them lol. I hope you enjoy yours.

Thanks everyone, I'm glad you approve! And hope you'll try it too, except Tulsalady who already does it.
Hywel, I used 2 of them today, cooked. Yum yum! Sorry about your's.
Whistonlass, I think it would be worth trying, in a nice sunny place next to a wall. Germinate indoors of course.

Cristina, I'm old enough to have become somewhat cynical and I think 'they' tell us that to make us buy seeds. It could be done with tomatoes, but would I think, take a long time.. We're always told that about garlic, but as we have never been successful with garlic anyway, I don't know how that would work.
Good luck with your peppers.

Thanks David. I've just learnt my sister-in-law does the same with tomatoes. She washes then dries the seeds and uses them for next year's crop. We must try chillies too.
