Spare a thought for our feathered friends

Good morning Gardeners and friends, it is a bright and dry day here in Jersey, but for the first time I feel a nip in the air! Time to get out the gloves and woolly hats methinks? Spare a thought today for the little birdies who visit your garden. Whilst we are all preparing for winter, ordering logs, and bleeding radiators in preparation for who only knows what the winter will bring, our little feathered friends can do nothing except rely on our love for them. Whilst you are visiting your local DIY shop, to buy draught excluders et al, think about investing in a bird-table or hanging feeder and ensure that the birds that share your garden have a little something to eat everyday during the hard Winter months…Mother Nature will thank you for caring for the most vulnerable of her little ones. Have a great day and stay warm much love Maggie x

The little birds haven't come back to us yet this autumn Normally we have about half a dozen blue tits and at least two pairs of great tits, the occasional greenfinch, a couple of woodpeckers...and so far have seen only one great tit and a few starlings. I hope its because there is still plenty of food round about in the countryside.

They are certainly back here with a vengeance, cheeky little ones looking in at the window if the feeder is a bit low.
Thats a nice photo Maggie.....

Dull and damp here on the West Sussex coast ... I do agree about feeding the birds and would like to remind folk to remove Fat Balls, Peanuts etc. from the nets they are often packed in as birds can become entangled in them. No need to fill the water bowls right now ... the rain is doing that! :o)
