Jasmine!

Rain, rain, rain! Until yesterday we had a straight 14 days with rain and ended up with the wettest April on record. Even mowing the lawn has become a challenge. But, we really did need it and perhaps now the garden soil is about where it should be at this time of year.
I drove home via the Severn bridge at Worcester yesterday to see acres of flooded fields. No camera with me, but a very similar scene to this one at the start of the great flood of 2007…
All of this could get me down, but once home, I was greeted with the most amazing scent from the jasmine in our conservatory. We have two – both bought in the garden centre as the usual little plants, both just potted on and now both semi-out-of-control. They sit by our two giant cactus (also semi-out-of-control) and ramble over them. I’ve put some trellis on the wall so that the larger one can venture further.
No air freshners needed – all we need do is open the connecting door and the whole house is flooded with the scent. It started on 18th April and I fully expect it to be around for another month as there are loads of buds. They grow fast, like a lot of water and relish the heat of the conservatory. I really must find out how/when to prune them properly.

The scent obviously raised your spirits just when you needed it , how nice ( in the full sense of the word ).

What a wonderful welcome ~ sight and smell, and I love that little stone wall that I can just see through the conservatory window.

Very pretty and I swear I can smell that perfume..
.It looks very bad in some places as regards the flooding, its not a problem we have here, thank goodness, its bad enough just having a sodden garden, I do feel for anyone living in those areas and watching it getting closer to their homes...
