Holiday photos of gardens

Hi everyone,
Its been a little hectic here over the past few weeks and we have also fitted in a week’s holiday to Northern Spain (actually only four days there). Its a region I would recommend as it is totally different from the Costa’s and very beautiful with lots of greenery about. However, I previously promised you some more photos and here is the first batch.
Last year, we went to Lake Como at the end of April and visited the Villa Carlotta. The gardens here are full of azaleas and rhododendrons, some of which are a hundred years old. This is definitely the best time of year to visit.

Hi Spritzhenry,
Yes we have been to Lake Maggiore but only for a day about 10 years ago in June. However that showed us how that beautiful that part of Italy is. Whilst there we went across the lake to the island of Isola Bella where the main villa there has magnificent ornate terraced gardens and white peacocks. Inside the villa, the cellar has all its walls completely covered in shells. Well worth a visit.

Hi everyone again,
If any of you get the opportunity to visit Lake Como (we travelled by coach and had a week there), please go. It is really the most beautiful place with the mountains of the alps to the north and every view seems to take your breath away. My photos really didn't do justice to the beauty of the garden because it is very large and sloping with the majority of it being the rhododendrons which are as tall as trees. The lakeside gardens all have these as well and the wisteria was flowering above the outdoor cafes.

Beautiful photos Marelli pleased you enjoyed your hols.
Like both yourself and Spritz I holidayed in Stresa a few years ago on the shores of Lake Maggiore. Took boat trips out to the islands and it has remained at the top of my holiday list because it is so beautiful
