Today, we have been on the Santa Train with our granson, his mum and her new partner. It has been a magical day, with the innocence of childhood all around us.

We went on a Restored Railway which is run by volunteers, it was lovely to be giving financial support and encouragement to them. They were giving us family fun.

It is quite a short piece of track which has been restored. and the train chugs backwards and forwards, until each child has had a long conversation and got a present from Santa. To ease the strain on the train, the adults got mince pies and Baileys! It took an hour and a half in our case. When we got back to the station, there were lots more waiting and it was just starting to get dark. So Santa would have been doing over time. The volunteers children acted as Santas little helpers.

Altogether a lovely, happy day.

It sounds great Marge.
There's a railway line through this village that's being restored. I don't know when trains will be able to go along it but they've put all the level crossings right.
It's a good idea to use it for kids like that at Christmas.

Merry Christmas to you all.

We have the West Somerset Railway not too far away - I am pretty sure that they run a 'Santa Special' too. When our grandson stays here, we HAVE to go on the steam train!

Mind you, it takes us back to our childhood - so we don't object at all! I bet you had a great time. ;-)

Oh Marge, I've gone all sentimental. I used to do a Santa train with my children when they were small. So magical.

Sounds wonderful Marge.
I remember taking my kids on the miniature train in Vancouver at Christmas. Had to wait hours in line; the wait made easier by hot roasted chestnuts and hot chocolate.
Glad you had a good time. :o)

Hi Mikec and Gilli, thanks for your replies, doesn't matter where we live, we all like the same things - small boys and trains!

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
