Why do I feed the birds all winter...

so they can come and eat my vegeatables all summer? Is there nothing that will keep them off?
They laugh at the hanging cds and even dance under the black thread.
They have pecked the tops off my beetroot and are now starting on the chard which is just getting somewhere. You’d laugh if you could see my plot it’s like a battle zone.
More of a rant than a blog but I am mad.

Yes and blackbirds , magpies and pigeons rip up the turf in spring wet days

I know how you feel when I've fed them and in return they poop on my washing and windows! lol

The worst time is when they`ve been eating blackberries and your sheets are on the line....

Yeah, know that feeling well. Have to use stain remover, scrub 'em off and re-wash. Remind me, why do we feed the birds? The trick is NOT to put food out if you're gonna do washing.

Who wee chirp a chirp a cheep cheep, chirp a chirp a cheep cheep chirp (sing 70's style). Tis but a small price we pay. But very frustrating. Just be thankful they're not Seagulls.

I don't feed the birds because my cats will eat the birds. The big fat pigeons manage to devour the elder berries and then perch all round the garden producing purple bird doings grrrrr. My pergolas we not built as pigeons perches - but tell them that.

My father used to sew 4 beetroot seeds together. He used to say "One for the mouse, one for the Crow, one to rot, and one to grow" lol
I'm sorry to hear your crops are being attacked. You don't mention a scarecrow. It's a thought :o)

Yes or even better - I saw an eagle that had been made from recycled materials at an exhibition. It was about 2 feet across. Thought I would get my son to make one and then stand that up on a perch!
