The Getech wonder!

I’m sure you will all gather from looking at my garden photos that I’m a bit of an obsessive about trimming hedges and shrubs!!…..On returning from our last holiday, the boundary hedges had galloped away! Decided to phone my usual garden helper, but sadly he wasn’t able to work due to an op on the horizon……panic!!
After much thought and research,I decided to tackle it myself. On line we saw this hedge trimmer made by Geotech.A very light tool which extends to 10ft and most importantly cordless.!
It arrived very quickly ……couldn’t wait to use it…..only needed a little charging…….the results were great and very effective…..So light to handle too.
Wonder if anyone else has purchased it?

Wish we had one. Hubby got some big old petrol run thing this year. Too heavy for me to use and he doesn't have the time. I got fed up with one of our hedges. Where I sit in the conservatory, it right in my eye line. Other weekend I got our old electronic one out but next door not cut their side in years so hedge was too wide for me to get all the way across. I had asked next door if could do right across and they said ok but just couldn't reach! I am now looking at one holly branch sticking up about 2-3 ft above the rest of hedge and driving me mad :-(.

It looks very handy, Julia. Just what I need!

Two questions please - how long does it run on a charge and what thickness of wood can it cut through? Happy trimming!

Good questions Stera...I could do with one of these for trimming in between OH's cuts.

Stera,it runs for 45 minutes and takes3- 4 hours to recharge......it wont tackle large thickness of wood, the other one is more suitable for that and I think the battery of that one is worn on your back. The handy option is the angled head. Our electric trimmer doesn't reach very far and becomes so heavy.

Yes, its the weight isnt it...so tiring.

It sounds perfect for light pruning jobs. Enjoy.

Thanks Hywel. Ours is quite a heavy mains one - David is OK with it but its too heavy for me - as you know we have a lot of hedge so I'm glad it isn't me that has to trim it!
An angled one would be very useful. D is reducing the height of the privet one so its easier to reach the top. The beech is always a struggle though. I'll show him yours.

Looks great. The petrol hedge trimmer whichI used for years became too heavy for me. One of the reasons I needed to give up my gardening round.
But, when you are going from garden to garden, you need to use petrol tools rather than electric that need a lead or need to be plugged in to charge in between jobs. But, it seems ideal for home use.

This looks a very useful tool, just wondering if it would cut through camellia branches?

Just noticed I replied to Hywel's comment on this - I remember he said he had a similar one. But his contribution seems to have disappeared - wonder how that can happen?

Hi DD......just come in from the garden......the G-Tech trimmer easily coped with the Camellia branches....3/4 cm thick....the only shrub which gives resistance is the prickly Eleagnus.......the lightness is a joy after our other heavy trimmer.
