Usk Open Gardens 2018.

Always on the last weekend in June, private gardens in Usk,Gwent, are open to the public……ranging from small cottage to the grand sweep of medieval of Usk castle. Proceeds go to local charities. There is a mini bus if you tire of walking…..this year 20 were open.

The River Usk runs alongside the town where you can pause to picnic on its banks.

This year the Bicycle was celebrated, many of them colourfully decorated.

We managed to see 16 of the gardens……the day became hotter and hotter with very little shade in between.Still there is always next year!

The first photo is Twyn Square.

This next garden was very intriguing ……still has the original outside “Loo” lit up by candlelight,

This next garden did offer a hammock if anyone dared to try!

The fragrance from the rose arbour overpowering…..the tree house was built around the original tree trunk with an adjoining slide to the right.

Both the seal and the dog had decided to give up and were lucky to find a little shade.

We couldn’t resist taking the photo of the Fishing tackle/sweets shop. Not a combination one would normally associate…… the castle is the medieval Usk castle

The photo of the gate from one of the gardens is a contemporary rusty one showing Chrome numbers…..I rather like it!

Interesting gardens ... I hope the hot weather didn't tire you, but it must have been better than rain for seeing the gardens :)

It's always great to talk to the different owners and have some feedback on the history of the gardens.
