Operator error?

I am very disappointed to be told that the GoY techies think the problem with my PMs is probably an “operator error”. This apparently means it’s my fault. I cannot access my PMs from any computer, not my iPad, my laptop or my mother’s PC, or my daughter’s, so quite how I have managed this I cannot imagine. When I try to access my PMs, by any route, I get the message : “We’ve made a mistake. Looks like something isn’t quite right with Grows on You. Please try again, we’re sorry for the inconvenience”. This “explanation” of “operator error” is more frustrating than the original problem! If anyone has any ideas, please let me know!

My settings are all as they should be. The thing is, this message - an apology from GoY - appeared while I was going through my PMs. Anyway, there's no point in worrying too much about it. There are only seven messages on there that I haven't read, and I know that abt least two of them are from people "just testing".
I haven't had any problems with any other site at all, and I use the iPad a lot.
Thank you very much for the suggestion anyway. ?

very strange - hope it sorts itself out you could do a System Restore to before it all started to go wrong. Hope you get it sorted soon.

I would have to restore my Mum's PC, my laptop and iPad and my daughter's as well, because I get the same result on those! Dave did mention that there is another member with the same problem...

I wouldn't put up with this for more than 5 minutes. You are probably talking to a robot. I'd cancel my membership then re-register under a different email address and/or user name.

well if there is more than one member with the problem it is obviously something with the site. Sorry I wasn't reading properly misunderstood when you said every other technology was not working either. Obviously is a website problem then. Have you tried cancelling your membership and re-loading it, know it is a pain but it might work. So frustrating.:O(

I don't think you are dealing with actual human beings, most of this stuff is automated. Did you send a private message by clicking "Contact Us" down at the bottom of this page - the very bottom.

Is it really Bathgate? Changed times. When I joined this site 5 years ago, I'd get a personal reply from Peter or Ajay very promptly indeed. I know they aren't running it now, but thats very disappointing to hear that Melchi has had such an unhelpful and frankly frustrating diagnosis of her problem and no help whatsoever. Not the service we expect at all. Tut tut GOY!

I have had quite a number of personal replies from Dave - he is definitely not a robot, I know that if only because sometimes he takes a while to reply! But his latest message is not very encouraging. Apparently, the "techies" are now engaged on a new project, and as far as they are concerned "GrowsonYou" is "done and dusted"!!! I think Dave has done his best, but he says trying to get a response is difficult. I cannot believe this is something from my end, but there you go!
I am not keen to re-register, Paul. Although Karen managed it, so perhaps I should. The thing is, my current PMs are lost forever, aren't they?

I would not do a system restore unless the problem was splattered through all your programs. The safest try would be to reregister. The problems I have had have come when I have upgraded my operating system which I will never ever do again...I've learned my lesson.

I have no intention of doing a system restore or reset, Loosestrife. I generally use my fairly new iPad, and am as sure as I can be that the problem is not from my end! Thank you for your concern.

That is really is not good enough response from GOY, as Karen says it wouldn't be much good without the contributors. Think I'd give Dave another nudge.
I wouldn't want to start over either, after all your pages are also a record.

Maybe talk to Dave and see if there is a way to save the information on your pages and transfer them to another new one - just an idea. It would be awful to lose your stored information and have to re-start.

These glitches happen, I'm afraid. I gather from Dave that the techies have moved on, they are not only concerned with GoY. I'm not convinced that he could tell me how to preserve my account details as he said he had no idea about the causes of my problem. I just felt a bit miffed that it was assumed that I had somehow caused it. (Not that he suggested that. I get the impression that the techies weren't responding to him) I suppose I could set up as Melchisedec2 with another email address and run them both...

Go to internet options and see if you have the privacy settings set correctly. Tools, then Internet options then click on the individual tabs in turn and make sure they are set as they should be. There is usually an option to return them to the default setting somewhere on each tab. Worth a try to see if things will return to normal for you.
