Rare bird sighting!

I have just been informed that we may well have an influx of bird-watchers tomorrow, because a rare African Weever has been blown off-course and landed at the Dungeness RSPB Reserve. This place is well known for rare birds getting lost, so you can imagine the bird-watching jungle drums being banged all over the place within the next few days!

We had a hoopoe up here a few winters ago, and the number of bird watchers knocking on our door asking if we'd seen it was unbelievable! A nice man from the RSPB called and told me to get in the bacon and rolls as we'd make a fortune selling them to punters over the weekend!
AND he spotted the bird, and gave me a shuftie through his bins! Don't know whether the hoopoe made it or not, I like to hope he blew southwards but if not, he'll have perished in the cold northern winter. ;-(
A 'rare' bird is usually a 'lost' bird.
Hope you see your Weaver, Merf!

Be good if you get to see it Merfyn,I remember seeing a lot of birdwatchers in the Lakes a few years back, have to laugh at the memory because I was interested in the birds and hubby was more into all the fantastic camera gear and bins.........
