Ladies & Gentlemen - may I present 'George'!

Ladies & Gentlemen.
May I have the great pleasure of introducing you all to George James, the poorly moggy from the James Estate. He is a two-and-a-half year old black male crossbreed, previously known as ‘Hunter’.
I have known many moggies in my time, but this is the loudest, most beligerent, most attention-seeking creature I have ever had the pleasure to meet. However, he’s our little chap, and we love him!
Before we went to the cat sanctuary to look for a cat I looked at their website first, and checked out all the available moggies. There was something about this certain feline’s face that instantly attracted me to him; whether it was the pure arrogance that he displayed in the photograph – I don’t quite know! But there was something there.
We arrived at the sanctuary and were escorted up to the main cattery by the wonderful people that work there. As we approached the building we could hear this howling, like something from a horror movie. It sounded quite like a larger cat than you would expect to find at a cattery (think lions and tigers, pumas and leopards, etc). The noise drowned out every other cat in there, and there were hundreds of them!
We nervously peered into the cage, and then this ‘thing’ emerged, growling and howling and leaping about like a maddened tasmanian devil. We looked knowingly at each other (me and the cat), and we could see the challenges ahead. I looked knowingly at Mrs James, and she concurred. We had to have him – there and then!
Well, there you have it! It is believed by the sanctuary that he was found roaming about Bodmin Moor, dragging a dead sheep’s carcass in his mouth. He was trapped by using a shire horse as bait in a trap.
WARNING: Don’t go wandering around the Romney Marshes at night, especially if you’ve got some meat on your body!

Awww, he's lovely, i love black cats :)))
Rescue cats need very special owners, not many people bother to understand them and learn about their ways and traits.
You're good people :)
(how long have you had him ?)

Would it work if you brought a cat home Mookins saying it was homeless? Would he melt at those pleading kitty eyes & cute furry face...or would he start sneezing?!!
Maybe you should borrow Mr George James, Sue & he could show your puss how it's done...the catflap thing I mean!

Lol ! :-))

That's his "make my day, punk" face - he's only posing in front of the camera to con everybody to think that he's a nice mannered chap! Couldn't live with a characterless pet! He's great!

Thanks for all your kind words - I'll pass them on to the concerned party!

I think you will have to agree that George picked you, Merfyn. I'm convinced they choose us rather than the other way round.
Misty was a rescue cat and when I was shown her I was told 'Oh she's very timid - won't come near you' - we opened her cage door and she jumped onto my shoulder and wound her way right round my neck, no way was she going to let me go home without her.

I agree with Wagger - I am sure George picked you Merfyn.
Those wonderful eyes ....he used them to good effect and "hooked " you there and then. I can well see that if he decides not to go into a carrier/basket - short of a whiff of something potent - there is no way he is going to go do so!! Definitely a great character ..with a mind of his own...and adorable with it. I am so pleased to "meet" him....please give him another big hug from me .....shhhh..while my "Golden Girl" labs are sleeping!!

Gorgeous George...definitely looks like a cat with attitude!
They do pick you, one of mine, (sadly no longer with us) like Waggers, was a rescue we were told always stayed hidden away but she was straight out to us rubbing all around. My other one I found at about 8 weeks old under the bonnet of my van, after a very wet night! No-one claimed him despite adverts. He knew I'd keep him!
24 Sep, 2009
Yes I agree really gorgeous and I too think cats choose us. Its the eye contact they make when they pick you, you just cannot look away and your hooked.

Oh George! Handsome boy, handsome boy! How's your poorly toe? Has it started to stop hurting you? Did the vet put another bandage on it? Try not to chew it, George. Get better SOON.

I've been watching the little git closely since he's been home - oh what a clever, devious little git he is as well!
He mews sadly and limps about all over the place when we're all indoors, but I looked through the kitchen window to check on him whilst I was in the garden this morning - he was leaping from chair to chair and onto the dining table and playing with his toys - he was limping though, but the 'poorly cat act' wasn't so obvious! As soon as I came in he collapsed on the floor and started mewing pitifully again. I told you he was a little gitlet!

Sounds like a man when he's got a cold to me Merfyn!
