Drip drip drop little April showers

Tuesday 28th April
As I sit here in my nice cosy office (it’s a slow work day as I wait for some more information before I can continue the work I am doing), I look out the window and can see the rain coming down in Leeds, and I hope that it is raining on my allotment further north. We had a good half inch of rain yesterday, and today looks like being just as lovely and wet.
I have a feeling that it not going to be a week of activity on the allotment, but we do so desperately need the rain, I personally will be more than happy to see it.
It may have an effect on my turnips. I have got lots of little holes in the leaves, and I believe that these are caused by flea beetles that like the nice dry weather in April or May (from the reading I have done). I’m not really into spraying so I hope that the rain is going to keep them down. Fingers crossed anyway.
The one thing I really do have to do with the allotment this year is work out how much I spend on the seeds and how much I get for my return, either in weight or pickings. I think it would be nice to know how much the allotment produces over the year. So watch this space (but please don’t hold your breath.
Normal service when I can get on to the plot to do anything.
In the meantime here’s a photo of a lovely double rainbow at the back of the house…

Got loads of rain here today and as I couldn't get out to water the plants for a couple of days, I'm glad of it too.
Mind you, I'm not so glad about the weed seedlings sprouting everywhere, lol.

Such a lovely rainbow. Not much rain here but a bit of snow. Otherwise just a rotten icy wind. Hope it warms up soon.
