Tonight I was cooking some chicken quarters and stuffed peppers on the back porch using my trusty smoker and it was generating quite a bit of heat. The weather has been horrible with lows below freezing for the last 4 days and we had 2 inches of slow cold drizzle and rain today.
A little field mouse had found some shelter behind one of my container plants and did not run away when I came out to check the chicken BBQ’ ing on the grille. My guess is that the little critter was sick and cold and just wanted a warm, dry place for the night:
Kinda cute for a mouse.. I put some food next to the plant for the ‘lil guy to eat and he didn’t run away. Hopefully he’ll eat some and be OK.

I love little mice and shrews, but not enough to let them inside the house, on purpose. I hope he's happy in the home you made for him on the porch.
