Heligan A Go GO part 1

These pictures are actually from a visit I did last year but having newly returned to GoY I thought I’d share.

I loved Heligan. I also wondered what some of these plants were as I was quite taken, though the East of Scotland might not be a good place to plant them.

So let’s take a wander through the flower garden.

I love a good doorway, so inviting and the anticipation builds.

A riot of pinks and reds with areas of subtlety.

Now this I can grow quite happily in my bit of earth.

I found it hard to get the vivid red of this gem to photograph. Love the intensity of it – but what is it?

The discipline of a commercial garden is quite breath taking.

This was my favourite favourite. I love the quirky shapes. So what is it?

The subtle white and blue mix here gave a break from the pink and rests the heart as it does the eye. Just stunning.

The show garden id the first part to this blog. I’ll move back stage presently.

I was there last Friday Pam and it was a fabulous day, we first visited when they were only in the second year of opening so it was good to see the gardens again...

We were also there last year Pam,a wonderful place..and the flower in question,I think is a Lychnis..very hardy, and has come through everything in my garden, this past few years..so will be fine in Scotland...just keep dead heading ,and it will flower all summer, into Autumn..glad you had a lovely day there ..

the red one is often more magenta. it is Lychnis coronaria. the bottom one is one if the silene, bladder campion relatives. how tall was it can you remember.

I wanted to go when we went to the Eden project some years ago but there wasn't time. Maybe anther year...

Ha Steragram, we went there because we thought Eden was a bit pricey and we would only have had half a day.

Seaburngirl, I think the silene one was about hip height from memory. Though not 100%. So about 70-90cm?

It was June when we went the rain had been torrential the whole week we were in Cornwall. When you drive from Scotland with a 8 month baba that's a bit disappointing. But the clouds broke for the afternoon at Heligan.
