hi, GROWS ON YOU, you surprised me with your new screen display when I opened it this morning. It’s so nice. I think it blooms than glooms. But I’m might be alone here now, I might be the only one awake right now since I’m the lone person in the other part of the world… Congratulations, I really appreciated and more than glad to be here, to be trapped in this wonderful site, this is a collections of paradise, the masterpiece of all members…

I agree it's a big improvment, well done team.

Its certainly different; easy to read the print....it will grow on me...lol

14 Oct, 2010

It looks very anaemic to me. The surrounding pastel green is as vibrant as a gloomy overcast day, and as for the colour of the text - ugh!!! Why not a bright blue? Or even a bright green? Something to cheer us up surely?
Now I log on, and the welcome is: Hi jasonf, welcome to our depressing site.
Sorry, but it's a big thumbs down from me.
To be honest, it's nearly as bad as MAGNOLIA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Its like any change isn't it, it takes time to get used to, I find the page very bright, the white background seems a little stark, unlike the warm, comforting colour of the old page set up, but its ok

The big print, the a-b-c- simple layout ..... it's like we're all 8 years old.
I'd prefer to have a forum that looked like it was addressing serious and sensible adult gardeners and not a generic chat site.

Yes Dido I agree it's a bit white! I have my email Navy blue on pale blue background, good on the eyes.

14 Oct, 2010

It is awful! Cold, unwelcoming and almost antiseptic. Where have all the welcoming 'greens' gone?

The old adage has never been truer, "If it ain't broke; don't fix it!"

14 Oct, 2010

Oh, it's fine, we'll all get used to it, and you should take a look at the photos, they look so much better, and we can put larger ones on too, I believe.

14 Oct, 2010

I'm in the for camp too, mostly because I'm finding the pages open so much quicker (and I pride myself on keeping my laptop working well). Maybe the background colour isn't the best, but, and it's a big but, it's good to have a site that isn't cluttered up with tons of ads!
It's good that the "typing" area is so much larger now too!

Oh, come on Bamboo - I got used to cow doo-doo decades ago, but I still don't like it. Agree about the photos, but you have to get through this depressing green before you get to those, and let's face it, most of the people in this world are influenced by impact euphoria, and this new site just hasn't got it.
Not that I particularly wholey agree with my next statement, but of all the colours in the garden, YELLOW is the happiest, and grass green our most welcoming. Sky blue is our most encouraging and reds are most exciting, and ALL of these are completely missing from this new site.
Personally, I don't want to get used to depression.

But Jason - it's all soooooo blue, no green to be seen! - and the black-on-white print is giving me eye-ache, as well as an incipient head-ache. I like the big photos, and the sooner guest questions go, the better.

I can't agree about fewer adverts - they keep appearing, even more than before!

It's a thumbs down for me at the moment. Sorry - must log off - and recover!

14 Oct, 2010

Yea Jason, do you have a bit of colour blindness - there's no green, it's blue, apart frm the Add Comment button at the bottom here. I know the commonest confusion between colours is turquoise and green, and the background here isn't quite turquoise, but is bordering on it...

14 Oct, 2010

I'm probably noticing the ads less because they're not holding up the page loading now!

14 Oct, 2010

I agree with Expats - it's really gone downhill :o((
I tried to be a bit flexible about the change, but really what is the point? The more I see of it the more I think it was a ridiculous idea...

14 Oct, 2010

I'm in the " O K " camp, although i still don't see why things had to change. Were there problems with the old format?

14 Oct, 2010

We can have larger photos now, not sure if there are any other advantages... though I believe many people had asked for a black on white format and larger print previously.

14 Oct, 2010

As long as we still get all the great photos, blogs and questions from every, or most members, i'm happy Bamboo!

14 Oct, 2010

You won't be seeing the blog I started last night unless Ajay can sort it out, Tiger. The photos I loaded won't show up when I preview it. :-(((((

14 Oct, 2010

Well, I'm even less happy now. My green seems to have become your blue!!! Oh dear, is it really blue, or some kind of incipid cerise?
Whatever, it's pastel yuck, and the text colouring is yuckier!!!
And what about these awful buttons that don't do anything when you press them? At least I like some kind of reaction when I give it a prod!

14 Oct, 2010

No Jason, its a very distinct turquoise blue, sorry! Text colour is black when you're typing, grey after its posted.

14 Oct, 2010

We must have the same P C Bamboo!

14 Oct, 2010

Um, from what I've seen, everyone is seeing white on blue and complaining about the absence of green - Jason appears to be the only one who sees green instead of blue, but that, as I said earlier, is a common problem for many people, telling between turquoise and green, and more particularly men, so no idea whether its his computer or his eyes, lol!

14 Oct, 2010

Very diplomatically put Bamboo! Lol!

14 Oct, 2010

Its early days yet....I preferred the background as it was before but I like the larger print.....I do feel as though I'm in a children's site.all these big buttons to press.....I find the ads more noticeable now. Haven't looked at the pics yet....

I find the white background makes my eyes feel "strained"...will have go off line for a while to recover.....

14 Oct, 2010

Am I colour blind, the only colour I see is turquoise !

14 Oct, 2010

I don't mind the format, although it looks a bit childish.
But I really dislike the icy blue. It looks depressing and puts me off.

14 Oct, 2010

Just logged on for a short time ... text is black as I type it out ... will change to grey when submitted. My OH is colour blind and sees blue very clearly so I've asked him to tell me what colour he sees to the sides of the screen ... without hesitation he said blue. I'm not keen on the brilliant white background ... feel as though I'm having an eye test ! No problems with the larger print so far. I'll tour round the 'new look' site later and form an opinion then !

14 Oct, 2010

"No Jason, its a very distinct turquoise blue, sorry" - well, whatever it is Bamboo, it is definately worse than yuk - most definately, and as for the white - I'M WEARING SUNGLASSES!!!!!

14 Oct, 2010

Jason, so am I! I got them out an hour ago and I'm wearing them over my reading glasses - trouble is I keep forgetting i'm wearing them and wondering why the other rooms seem so dark when I go in there...

14 Oct, 2010

LOL Bamboo - at least my screen is not that bright.

14 Oct, 2010

ooopppssss... first thing first. I admit it's a little bit glaring but I manage to adjust the brightness of my screen. This is a wonderful site, if there are changes I'm sure the one responsible for this doesn't want us to be annoyed, upset and sad. He wants us to be happy and he wants to put more inspirations, so we could create another brighter ideas on our garden... As for me I am GLAD that this site is born...
