I have a few single variety which have survived but....
my favorite the Doubles don't survive.
We've been told we over water?

Try Dollar Princess Protea. Its hardy so you can plant it in the garden, not too tall and rather frilly. I never water mine and its healthy. (Mind you we do get quite a bit of rain here...)

Protea I live in the midlands and last year had a lot of Fuchsias that I couldn't store in a frost free place so planted in the garden about 2" deeper than the soil in the pot level
a lot of these were doubles and they all survived if you try this don't remove any branches until new shoots appear next year and if you have any dry leaves collect around them leave them this will also give them some protection.
