Looking For Spots?

Maybe this ladybug is looking for a few extra spots from this variegated Pokeweed leaf.

Hi again. have you noticed the oriental ladybugs in your part of the world?
I'm not complaining of their help in the garden but they are larger than ours and seem to be taking over. They also have a wider variety of markings...thought that this one with no spots could be one of them..they mass inside walls and attics. What is your take on this...?

Hi Lori, I have so many different kinds of ladybugs here that I'm not exactly sure which is which, but I'm pretty sure the Asian ladybugs are here. I'm told that our natives won't bite but the Asians will, and I've been bitten out in the yard, so I guess they're here. Our Nine-spotted ladybugs can have a different pattern of their spots according to what area of the US it lives. There is also a Seven-spotted ladybug. I'll have to go "Google" the Asian beetle to see what it looks like for sure.

I just read something interesting about ladybugs.......during the middle ages the beetles rid grapevines of insect pests, and in appreciation were dedicated to "Our Lady", hence their common name. And of course there's the difference of 'bird' in the UK.
