I get so carried away now and turning 40 has made me appreciate the sheer beauty of such amazingly visual & vibrant flowers as well as the architectural joy of plants like Fatsia Japonica.

AMAZING STUFF for a novice like me!

Yes they are but alas, I have been plagued with the old slugs and have lost nearly all of these but one or two are fighting back. I'm going to put copper tape around the pot when it's dry - one day it will be I'm sure!

This tape has worked wonders on the raised veg patch and stopped the blighters getting at owt!

I'll be interested to hear if it works :)

As I said, it def works. Found it on ebay as wanted a humane way to deter them and the beer in a cup thing, although effective, apparently stinks!

I can send you the link for the guy on ebay where I bought it if you like. Apparently. when the slug touches the tape, it reacts with the slug and gives off a small charge that puts the slug off. We saw evidence of it working the day after I put it onto the lettuce patch. The slug made 2 attempts - slug trail left behind - and both times turned around!

That's interesting. I have often wondered about copper tape but never tried it. Might be a good idea for my Hosta pots next year. Your dahlia is very pretty.

Thanks Gee19. So is your Poppy.

If you cut & paste the following link into your search box, it will take you to the page of the guy I bought 2 lots of the tape from on ebay:

It seems to have worked and next year, I will be using it on everything I guess.

Any problems with the link, let me know

Thanks for the link - it worked fine. Maybe no hosta holes next year :)

You're welcome. Fingers crossed but you should be fine with it. Just ensure the pots are dry when you adhese it and you should be fine. I actually staple-gunned mine to the timber on the raised beds but it works well and actually doesn't look out of place on the wood.

Good luck and I look forward to hearing if it works next year!
