Still trying to hide the orange fence...

Back in the winter I divided my Miscanthus s. 'Zebrinus' and Kniphofia 'Northern Lights' and put clumps into this sunny bed. I'm not allowed to plant anything tall or permanent against the fence (long story) so I've tried to hide it a big by planting annual climbers. There's Ipomoea, Eccremocarpus and a Vigna carracalla at the back. I had intended a sort of yellow and blue theme in here, but it hasn't quite worked like that!

Are you allowed to paint the fence Sid? If it was green, it would disappear

I might just do that Andrew. The problem is, the fence forms one of the walls of the neighbour's shed, which is falling down. So, when they get round to removing the shed, the fence will come down too. It's not our boundary so I don't know if the existing fence will simply go back up or if a new one will go in - in which case my time will be wasted if I paint it. So you see we're sort of in limbo with the fence issue until they decide to do something about it.....

I've painted all the fencing im my garden green. One section (belonging to my neighbour), has blown down three times so, including the original, I've painted this bit four times now!

I'm thinking a sort of neutral greying green, a-la-Ground Force you might say lol ugh that orange is horrible tho isn't it......beats me why this colour is so popular for garden fences......

Am as jealous as anything (!) of your ipomeas.....I've had them before and they were OK...this year they have gone the way of all our rotten weather affected rotted off plants. They were SO good to start with - against my newish trellis - and the nice variegated ones for a change too :((

Awww, sorry to hear that. I think mine would have been a lot better had the weather been nicer for them - might have covered this bit of trellis then. I don't think I've seen any variagated one - pity yours have not survived as I would have been interested to see a picture lol

The only pic. I have - I would be ashamed to add on this illustrious site.Sid!!
The plants that are still in existance are a sorry sight!
The nearest I can get to its name ...it was just called Variegated Ipomoea on the nursery sit....is one called "Wedding Bells" which looks much the same.
