Yes TT, I grow this one as well. It gets to about six feet in a season on very thin and fragile stems - more of a scrambler than a climber - and dies back completely during the winter. D.scandens looks identical but is supposed to be hardier although I've had D.macrocapnos for several years now and it came through last winter without any problems

TT Andrew has filled you in pretty well,as for height mine is very shaded and will some years go to 9 or 10 feet ,its when it grown full height it starts to flower
Couple of other things certainly long lived mine is 20 + years,
Each year when it starts to grow its chewed back to the ground by slugs
only to send up further stronger stems within days, and for some reason they are not attacked, its the same every year( strange)

Aren't these the prettiest yellow heart shaped blooms you've ever seen ! I have the Dicentra scandens and it gets huge. It starts to bloom in late May and continues to grow and bloom heavily until November. It just doesn't get any better than that...:-)
